Our first stop was the Air and Space Museum at the Smithsonian. Liam was fascinated that they had so many things from the Space Shuttle Missions. We even saw a familiar face on one of the exhibits.
Recognize this astronaut?
After the museum, we ate our picnic lunch on the National Mall. Liam made a fiend with the squirrel. Then, we hopped on a bus that took us over to the memorial section. We started at the Jefferson Memorial.
Next was Roosevelt's memorial.
Next, we walked past the Martin Luther King Junior Memorial.
There were a lot of helicopters flying around today.
We continued walking past the World War I memorial and the Korean memorial and then headed to the Lincoln memorial.
Not all pictures work out perfectly. Believe it or not, it can be hard to get everyone to cooperate all at once.
Better, but not perfect.
We re-created the pose of Dave and Liam from the last time we visited Washington DC. Liam was 2 then.
Of course, Lilly wanted in on the action too.
drink break - clearly Lilly is excited to have Gatorade
It was very moving to be at the World War 2 memorial on D-Day. Many Veterans (mostly from the Korean War) were at the memorials today as part of the Honor Flight.
The kids have also had fun spending time with Uncle Jon and Aunt Julie.
