God has been gracious to us and has been with us through our journey of love and life. He has carried us through some of the most difficult times and has given us joy in the midst of sorrow. He has also been loving and given us abundant blessings. Most importantly, He has provided us with faith. May we share that faith with others.

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
"God's gifts put man's best dreams to shame".

Lilly's First Day of School

Lilly started Preschool!  This is a big year for her.  She is attending Buschor Hearing Preschool five afternoons a week.  She is attending with other hearing impaired students and will have teachers trained in sign language.  Since speech therapy takes place at school, we decided to take a break from her speech therapy at Parkview.  We will all miss her teacher, Julia.  She was phenomenal.  We hope to go back during Christmas and Summer break.

Lilly gets to ride the bus to and from school, which made her a little nervous at first, but she learned to love it quickly.

Lilly loves our walk to the bus stop.

Because Lilly goes to school in the afternoon, she no longer naps.  She's ready for bed by suppertime.

Lilly also started ballet at Studio 149.  She did well for her first class.

Liam's First Day of School

Liam is so excited to be in Kindergarten!  We are excited for him and look forward to all the ways that he'll grow.

Liam started by visiting his classroom.  He met his teacher, found his locker, and found his seat at his table.

The night before school started I gave Liam a copy of the book The Kissing Hand.  I wrote a little note in the front of the book and dated it.  We read it together.  The next morning I put one of the stickers from his book on his hand, so he had a kiss from me to carry with him all day.

Liam's first day of Kindergarten!

Liam had gym class his first day of school and unfortunately collided with another student and got a giant goose egg on his forehead.  It didn't seem to bother him too much.  He said, "Don't worry, I still want to go back."

Liam loves school so much that he often comes home and has school with his stuffed animals.  He also teaches the rest of the family and often makes us all participate in science experiments.

School all day, five days a week is exhausting

Here are some of our favorite quotes from Liam during the first week of school -
"I am a little disappointed that we don't have science class more often."
"It's great that my teacher has a good singing voice."
(When asked about music class) - "You know, there is this room beside the cafeteria, which I thought was off-limits, but once you walk in, you realize that it's the music room.  It's like a hidden room."
(Explaining why he was on yellow on the discipline chart at school) "The other boys were encouraging me to turn the lights on and off.  After talking to my teacher I realized that I should listen to the voice in my head instead of the boys."
The moment Liam gets in the van at the end of the day, he begins to tell me all about the day.  I hope he stays this way!

Family Pictures (Summer 2015)

The whole Herman family was together, so we had to take a picture.  The last picture we had taken was two years ago, so we were due for an update.  We took some individual family pictures as well.

Typical Family portrayal - Lilly is done taking pictures and Liam wants to tell me something.

July 2015

We have been soaking up the last bits of summer, since school will start soon.  This month was filled with as many activities as possible.  We went up to Michigan and went to the Hands On Museum in Ann Arbor, went the Indianapolis Zoo, and spent time in Grandma Kusch's pool.

Indianapolis Zoo with Grandma Kusch, her friend Ellen Milligan, and some of her grandkids

The ride broke down and the people in the cart were stuck there for hours.  We felt so bad for them.  It was a hot day and the sun was shining on them.

One of my former drama students got married.  We enjoyed the reception.

VBS - Dave was in charge of games for the Preschool-1st grade. Both kids attended.  I taught the lesson to Preschool-1st grade.

Vision Screening - getting ready for Kindergarten

Dave's sisters and their families came to visit - lots of cousin time

We went to see Minions with Grandma Kusch

The kids got to meet their newest cousin - Gwenevere Mae

We stumbled upon this historic village in Northville.  It was neat to walk through.
