God has been gracious to us and has been with us through our journey of love and life. He has carried us through some of the most difficult times and has given us joy in the midst of sorrow. He has also been loving and given us abundant blessings. Most importantly, He has provided us with faith. May we share that faith with others.

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Christmas Letter 2020

December  2020

Dear Family & Friends,

We pray that this Christmas greeting brings you joy, that you are celebrating Christ’s gift of love for you and sharing that love with others. In the midst of a challenging year, we are reminded that we have joy despite our circumstances and have a Savior that listens to our prayers. We can give thanks for not only our earthly blessings, but the blessing of eternity in heaven.

Our year started with a trip to Disney World in February.  It was a magical trip.  It was so great to see Luke’s reactions to all the new experiences.  We were excited to ride our favorite rides and see new attractions. We made memories as a family that we will cherish forever. We realized later that God blessed us with perfect timing.

When we arrived home, Liam performed in the musical Fiddler on the Roof at Concordia High School as a chorus member. I think we can say he was bit by the acting bug.  He had a great experience.

In March the kids switched from in person learning to remote learning.  It was a bit of a challenge to help Liam and Lilly with their school work and keep Luke occupied at the same time.  Once we got in the groove of Zoom schedules and managing technology, we did pretty well.  It was actually a blessing to have Liam and Lilly home.  It provided some great moments for attachment between Luke and his siblings.  We will look at our homeschool days with fondness.

The summer brought many days of playing outside, breaking in the new play set, visiting parks, helping in the vegetable garden, swimming in Grandma’s pool and enjoying the long summer days.

This August Liam and Lilly went back to school in person at Central Lutheran.  They have been able to stay in school with new procedures and safeguards.  They have taken on the new normal very well and are so happy to be back with their school family.

This November we took a weekend trip to South Haven, Michigan with Grandma Kusch.  We stayed in a cute lake house that was perfectly located within walking distance of the beach and town.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous.  We couldn’t have asked for a better trip.  We were able to get away and still social distance and stay safe.

Liam – started 5th grade this school year.  Although the amount of extra-curricular activities has decreased this year, he is still able to play basketball.  He also takes piano lessons and plays percussion in the band at school.  He still considers Science his favorite subject.  He also loves to read.  He is turning into a young man and we wonder where the last 10 years have gone.  He is now 5 feet tall and will soon be as tall as mom.

Lilly – is in 3rd grade this year.  She loves her teacher and has made new friends.  She continues to dance (ballet & tap) and is taking piano lessons.  She is a sweet second mommy to Luke and a great helper.

Luke – will turn 3 on New Year’s Eve.  He is a busy boy, full of energy and love.  He is sweet and silly.  He has grown so much in the past year.  He is talking so much more and learning new things every day.  It has been so much fun to watch him develop into the little bundle of joy that he is.

Dave continues to work for Thrivent and is thankful for his great clients and the ability to help spread generosity.  Tiffany works part-time for Thrivent as well and enjoys being able to stay home with Luke. We look forward to all the ways God will guide us in 2021.  We pray for all of you that you are safe and healthy and able experience joy.
