God has been gracious to us and has been with us through our journey of love and life. He has carried us through some of the most difficult times and has given us joy in the midst of sorrow. He has also been loving and given us abundant blessings. Most importantly, He has provided us with faith. May we share that faith with others.

Christmas Letter 2022

May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face shine on us.

Psalm 67:7

December 2022

Dear Family & Friends,

We pray that you are enjoying this Christmas season, remembering that God loves you abundantly & gives you blessings both big and small. Our prayer this season is that you realize those blessings. The greatest blessing being the gift of His son and the promise of eternal life with Him in Heaven.

We started our year with a magical trip to Universal Studios and Disney World. We spent a weekend as a family at Universal Studios, where the big kids lived out their dream of traveling down Diagon Alley and riding the Hogwarts Express. We then met up with Grandma Kusch, Uncle Rem and the Harts at Disney World and spent a week making amazing family memories.

When we got back from vacation, Liam jumped into final rehearsals of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Concordia Lutheran High School. He was in the chorus and had such a great time.

During Spring Break we took the train to Chicago where we spent a very full week with Grandma Kusch and the Harts. We visited the Aquarium, Planetarium, Field Museum, Museum of Science and Industry, the Skydeck and ate at many great restaurants. We had hoped to catch a Cubs game, but the delay of opening day put a damper on those plans.

Summer brought camps for Liam and Lilly. They both attended horse camp for two weeks. Lilly attended HEAR Camp, a camp just for Deaf/Hard of Hearing kids. It was her first time at a sleep away camp. She loved it! Liam attended Drama Camp and Technical Theater Camp. We enjoyed the long days, the warm weather and the ability to be outside.

Once the school year started again, our schedules revolved around the kids’ many activities.

In September, our sweet dog, Mars Apollo, passed away. Up until the end, he was sweet and loving. He was the best of companions and we miss him greatly.

In the midst of busyness, we were able to take a getaway during fall break to Toledo with Grandma Kusch. We visited the zoo and stayed in a hotel that had a pool. It was a nice little retreat.

In addition, here is a little bit of what we’ve been up to.

Liam – Liam is 12 and is in 7th grade. He has grown so much this year and is currently 5’6”, taller than mom. We feel like we are constantly getting him bigger shoes. He is taking horse riding lessons, piano lessons, playing percussion in school and is on the basketball team. He is such a kind young man, a friend to everyone and sincere and empathetic.

Lilly – Lilly is 11 and is in 5th grade and is having an amazing year. She is growing in confidence. She is taking horse riding lessons, piano lessons and is playing basketball at school. She is taking a break from dance this year, since her dance studio closed this year.

LUKE – Luke is 4 and is in PreK. He loves school. Luke also takes gymnastics classes. He has natural talent. It is fun to watch him do something he loves. He wants to do all the things the “big kids” do, but for now, he tags along with all their activities.

Tiffany- In addition to mom & wife duties, which are many, she works part-time for David at Thrivent. She also volunteers at Central, the kids’ school. She was co-chair of the school’s annual Gala Auction in April. Her long hours and hard work paid off – the event raised $185,000 for the school.

David – David continues to work with Thrivent. Now, more than ever, his calm spirit and counsel has been a blessing to his clients. When he’s not working or chauffeuring kids to and from events, he is reading through America’s presidents and America’s history. He relishes the opportunity to read a good book.

We hope that you are able to take time this season to realize all the blessings you’ve been given. You are a blessing to our family and we are thankful God put you in our lives.

Merry Christmas,

The Herman Family
