God has been gracious to us and has been with us through our journey of love and life. He has carried us through some of the most difficult times and has given us joy in the midst of sorrow. He has also been loving and given us abundant blessings. Most importantly, He has provided us with faith. May we share that faith with others.

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
"God's gifts put man's best dreams to shame".

Williamsburg, Day #4 - Monticello & Mount Vernon

Technically, today we ventured out of Williamsburg.  We drove to Thomas Jefferson's house at Monticello.  We had a great tour of the house.  We learned a great deal about our third president as both a politician and scientist.  The grounds are beautiful.  It is easy to see why Jefferson preferred to be at Monticello.  We said goodbye to Grandma Kusch,  who had to head back to Michigan.
Next, we traveled to Mount Vernon, George Washington's home.  We took a quick tour of the house and walked through the grounds.  They have added a great museum since we were there last.  It had great information, most fascinating were George Washington's set of dentures!
After leaving Mount Vernon, we made our way to Dave's sister's (Julie) house and visited with them before going to bed.  Tomorrow, we intend to have a full day in Washington DC.

Monticello

The kids were fascinated with the tadpoles in the pond.

You can see the University of Virginia (which Jefferson started) from Monticello.

This was George Washington's room

Slave Quarters

George's dentures - not wooden - made from teeth from cows, humans, and elephant tusks

Washington's tomb

Liam was, of course, fascinated with the blacksmith
